Allen Webster, Deven Marrero Among Red Sox Spring Training Roster Cuts

With Opening Day rapidly approaching, the Boston Red Sox continue to make cuts to solidify their roster.

The Red Sox optioned right-handed pitcher Allen Webster and catcher Christian Vazquez to Triple-A Pawtucket on Monday. Shortstop Deven Marrero was reassigned to minor league camp. Red Sox general manager Ben Cherington announced the cuts before Monday's game against the St. Louis Cardinals.

Boston released 12 players from big league camp Thursday, including Bryce Brentz, Garin Cecchini, and Henry Owens.

Of the 43 players remaining in major league camp, 33 are from the club's 40-man roster and 10 are non-roster invitees.
