The 2014-2015 Broadway Across America season features classics and irreverent newer works.

SALT LAKE CITY - 'The Book of Mormon' musical will arrive on a Salt Lake City stage in 2015.

The controversial, irreverent musical nearly swept the Tony Awards in 2011, spurring numerous worldwide tours. Broadway Across America announced that 'The Book of Mormon' will be part of the 2014-2015 Utah Subscription Series at the Capitol Theatre and Kingsbury Hall.

'This is one of the most exciting lineups in the 30 years we have been bringing national tours of Broadway musicals to Salt Lake,' said Broadway Across America/Utah president John Ballard in a news release.

Following is a look at the lineup, in chronological order.

'Nice Work if You Can Get It,' Sept. 23-28, 2014, Capitol Theatre: If the Great American Songbook refers to songs from the '20s and '50s, the Gershwins, George and Ira, may just be the kingpins, and this musical features the best of the best. Set in New York in the roaring '20s, the wedding of wealthy playboy Jimmy Winter is close, until he meets Billie Bendix, described in the news release as 'a bubbly and feisty bootlegger who melts his heart.' Though the book of this musical is new, the music is all familiar: 'Let's Call the Whole Thing Off,' 'I've Got A Crush On You' and 'Someone to Watch Over me.' It also features plenty of laughs.

'How the Grinch Stole Christmas - The Musical,' Nov. 18-23, 2014, Capitol Theatre: Most childhoods have been touched by the furry, green fingers of the Grinch, the creation of the brilliant Dr. Seuss. The Grinch lives above Whoville, and with a heart 'two sizes too small,' he schemes to 'steal' Christmas. The musical debuted on Broadway during the Christmas season in 2006 and returned in 2007. It features classic songs such as 'You're A Mean One Mr. Grinch' and 'Welcome Christmas.'

'Once,' April 7-12, 2015, Kingsbury Hall: The 2012 winner of the Tony Award for Best Musical, 'Once' is the adaptation of the 2006 film of the same name. This is one of those productions where the actors do the acting, singing and play their own instruments on stage. A Dublin street musician meets a beautiful woman who takes interest in his music.

'The Illusionists,' June 23-28, 2015, Capitol Theatre: Not so much a Broadway 'play,' but coming straight from Broadway, this is called 'the worlds' best-selling magic show' and features 'the jaw-dropping talents of seven of the most incredible illusionists on earth,' according to the news release.

'The Book of Mormon,' July 28-Aug. 9, 2015, Capitol Theatre: 'The Book of Mormon' follows two missionaries, Elders Price and Cunningham, on their trek to a remote village in Uganda, which is under the control of a brutal warlord. The musical is from the creators of Comedy Central's 'South Park,' Trey Parker and Matt Stone, and 'contains explicit language,' according to the news release.

The Broadway Across America 2014-2015 season add-ons include: 'A Kurt Bestor Christmas,' Dec. 18-20, 2014; 'Beauty and the Beast,' Jan. 30-Feb.1, 2015; and 'Mamma Mia!' March 13-15, 2015.

According to Broadway Across America, season ticket holders will have the option of purchasing a four-show or five-show package. The four-show package does not include 'The Book of Mormon.'
