Geoff Edwards US game show host dies

American television actor and game show host in the 70s and 80s, Geoff Edwards has passed away on Wednesday at the St. Johns Health Center in Santa Monica. Edwards died of complications related to pneumonia confirmed his agent.



Back in the 80s, when Edwards wasn;t working on game shows, he co-hosted daytime chat show Mid-Morning LA on KCAL-TV, for which Edwards won a local Emmy. Fred Westbook, Edwards's agent told The Hollywood Reporter, 'Geoff help to change the look of daytime television in the early' 70s as his hair was a bit longer, he almost never wore a tie, wore jeans and rarely had a podium to stand behind.'


The television and radio personality gained national exposure with such game shows as Treasure Hunt, Starcade and Jackpot, and worked regularly as an actor back in the 60s, and appeared in 1972 with Paul Newman in WSUA, appeared as a late night movie host in the 1969 movie The Comic staring Dick Van Dyke, and also had other appearances in shows That Girl and I Dream of Jeanie.


Most recently Edwards emceed The Big Spin, the California state lotteries official game show, and is survived by his wife of 30-years Michael, son Todd and daughter Shawn. Edwards was aged 83 when he died.
