It's only a matter of hours until the HTC One M8 launch which the firm is calling the biggest in its history. However, by way of a new app, HTC has confirmed the new smartphone will come in a Google Play Edition with vanilla Android. Above is the leaked image for the regular M8 with Sense 6.0.

HTC has today added the HTC Gallery application to the Google Play store but hasn't held back in terms of revealing secrets by way of the description. 'Support for HTC One (M8) Google Play Edition is limited to HTC Photo Edit.' It haphazardly states.

This not only confirms the 2014 version of the HTC One will be called the HTC One (M8), not the 'All new HTC One' as rumoured, but also that it will come in a Google Play model.

Under 'what's new' for the HTC Gallery app it talks about exclusive features for the M8 including 'Copy & Paste', 'Foregrounder' and 'Dimension Plus' which we're sure we'll hear more about later today.

Of course, there are no details on when the HTC One M8 Google Play Edtion will launch but we'll let you know when we hear any further. It's also unclear which countries it will launch in - Google Play Editions have so far been more a US thing than something for global launch.
