Intel reportedly bought Basis for somewhere between $100 and $150M

Intel has reportedly acquired health tracking company Basis, according to TechCrunch. The deal is said to be worth between $100 million and $150 million.

Basis is the maker of the B1 health tracking band, which was recently refreshed at CES with sleep tracking and a carbon steel edition. Though Basis doesn't control as much of the health tracking market as rival Jawbone, the deal is still believed to be higher than the 'sub-hundred million' figured that was rumored last month.

According to the report, Intel is still interested in selling chipsets rather than competing in the consumer electronics field. It isn't clear what this would mean for the future of the Basis B1, but Intel would gain access to the wearable's design, as well as the team that created it.

Intel has yet to confirm the acquisition, but perhaps we'll learn more about its plans for the company when it does.
