Leonardo DiCaprio, Amy Adams Seek First Oscar Wins

(Photo : REUTERS/Danny Moloshok ) Actor Leonardo DiCaprio poses with the award for Best Actor in a Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy for his role in 'The Wolf of Wall Street' at The Weinstein Company & Netflix after party after the 71st annual Golden Globe Awards in Beverly Hills, California January 12, 2014.

In the past decade, Leonardo DiCaprio was previously nominated four times before this latest Oscar nod for his performance in 'The Wolf of Wall Street.' While his previous roles have become larger than life, his latest acting nomination may just land him his much coveted Oscar, according to an opinion from the Inquisitr.

The report used Google analytics to determine the volume of individual searches conducted on DiCaprio. A large majority indicate that he deserves to win the plum award after his snubs for previous roles. Amongst those performances that did not get the Oscar nod was in 'What's Eating Gilbert Grape', which he did while he was still a teenager.

Other pundits place the Oscar statuette in the hands of Matthew McConaughey for his performance in 'Dallas Buyers Club.' McConaughey's transformation from romantic comedy lead to gritty character is what Oscar voters often fall for, according to a report from Today. The social media buzz though generated by DiCaprio's character though is tough to overcome, as it was carefully harnessed by director Martin Scorsese.

As for the Best Actress category, four of the five nominees already have Oscars at home. Only Amy Adams, who already has four previous nominations and is gunning for her first statuette. Her competition, Meryl Streep, who already has three wins, Sandra Bullock and Cate Blanchett with one apiece. The spoiler for Adams' winning for her performance in 'American Hustle' would be Blanchett in her role in 'Blue Jasmine.' Blanchett already has the 2014 Best Actress award in the Golden Globes, the BAFTA and the SAG.

In the Best Picture category, it's a toss up between two extremely different movies. The first is '12 Years a Slave,' a historical piece that was made into a film. On the other end of the spectrum is 'Gravity,' which is a disaster drama of the highest technological scale. Many see the historical film win over the technology film.

Hopefully for both Adams and DiCaprio, the fifth time's a charm.
