It's a battle of Los Angeles as the Lakers and Clippers collide on Thursday night from STAPLES Center

It's a battle of Los Angeles as the Lakers and Clippers collide on Thursday night from STAPLES Center.

Head to head, the Clippers are 5-1 ATS in the last 6 meetings while the home team is 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings and the favorite is 5-1 ATS in the last 6 meetings. The Lakers are 10-22-1 ATS in their last 33 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600, 2-5 ATS in their last 7 home games vs. a team with a winning road record and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 home games. The Clippers on the other hand are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games vs. a team with a winning % below .400, 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games playing on 1 days rest and 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games overall.

While the Los Angeles Lakers already have a win over their cross-town rivals this season, there are going to be up against it tonight. See, that surprising 116-103 win over the Los Angles Clippers came on opening night, as in the first game of the season for both teams. Since that time they have met once more and it was the Clippers who got their payback in the form of a 36-point domination. With that victory, the Clipps have now won five of six against the Lakers, both straight up and against the spread. Those five wins have also come by an average of 17.8 points per contest.

As far as recent form goes, the Clippers have bounced back from consecutive defeats to post five straight victories with an average winning margin of 13.8 points, which includes road games at Oklahoma City and Phoenix on Tuesday night. They do however have some injury concerns as J.J. Redick, Jamal Crawford and Jared Dudley are all currently sidelined with various injuries. Dudley is the only player of the three that might take the court tonight. Meanwhile, the Lakers had their two-game winning snapped on Tuesday night by the visiting New Orleans Hornets 132-125. They have now dropped eight of their last 11 overall.

There's just no way I'm taking the Lakers here, it's not happening. That's not to say they can't cover the spread, or win for that matter, but the Clippers are flat out the better team and you just have too look at their last meeting to see what they are capable of. Now the Lakers have players back from when they last met, but I doubt it matters in the end...
