Medlen exits due to injury in fourth inning

Braves right-hander walks off field after throwing pitch to Mets' Clark

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- Braves right-hander Kris Medlen walked directly toward the dugout after throwing a pitch during the fourth inning of Sunday afternoon's game against the Mets at Tradition Field.

The Braves have not revealed why Medlen exited, but the veteran pitcher appeared to grab his right elbow as he made his way toward the dugout before even consulting with manager Fredi Gonzalez or a member of the team's medical staff.

After throwing his second pitch to Matt Clark with two outs in the fourth inning, Medlen made his way toward the Braves' dugout on the first-base side. He had also grabbed his elbow after throwing his first pitch to Clark.

Medlen underwent Tommy John surgery in August 2010. His long rehab process kept him sidelined until the final week of the 2011 season.
