MLB.TV, Epix Apps Headed to Xbox One

Microsoft on Tuesday announced a few new streaming apps that will soon make their way to the Xbox One , including MLB.TV and Epix.

'Just in time for Opening Day, fans will be able to watch Major League Baseball games on Xbox One,' the company said. You will, naturally, need Xbox Live Gold and a premium MLB.TV subscription to take advantage of the app and watch live HD-quality video of every out-of-market regular season game this year. Subscribers will never have to miss a game again, as full archives for every game will be available.

There's no word as to when the Epix app will arrive, but Microsoft said the premium TV network is 'hard at work developing an app for Xbox One' and promised more details soon.

Meanwhile, if you haven't yet upgraded to the Xbox One, don't feel left out - there's some new goodies for the Xbox 360, too. Starz has launched Encore Play and Movieplex Play apps for the older system, boasting a combined catalog of more than 1,500 movies, including Oz The Great and Powerful, Zero Dark Thirty, and Independence Day.

In addition, Major League Gaming on Monday launched an app on Xbox 360, bringing live broadcasts of gaming tournaments to the living rooms of Xbox Live Gold members in Australia, Canada, the U.K., and the U.S. The app comes just in time for the Call of Duty Championship tournament, which will feature 31 of the best CoD teams competing for $1 million in prizes from March 28 to 30.
