Boston Bruins: Clinched a play-off spot after beating Colorado on Friday

Boston Bruins clinched a place in the Stanley Cup play-offs and broke through the 100-point barrier with a 2-0 win away to Colorado Avalanche.

Goals from Patrice Bergeron in the first period and Carl Soderberg in the second, along with 31 saves from Chad Johnson including two in the dying moments, clinched the Bruins' 11th straight NHL victory.

That lifted them to 101 points, six more than nearest challengers Pittsburgh Penguins, and saw them become the first team to seal a post-season spot.

New York Rangers, sixth in the Bruins' Eastern Conference, came from behind to beat Columbus Blue Jackets 3-1 with all the goals coming in the final period.

Nick Foligno gave Columbus the lead but Derek Stepan responded within a minute and Derick Brassard scored the go-ahead goal before Carl Hagelin added an empty-net clincher.

Chicago Blackhawks lie fourth in the Western Conference after a 3-2 win over Carolina Hurricanes.

Patrick Sharp and Kris Versteeg gave the Hawks a 2-0 lead and though Alexander Semin's double levelled matters, Jonathan Toews grabbed the winner for Chicago.

There were goals galore in the evening's other game as Nashville Predators edged out Calgary Flames 6-5.

Shea Weber scored twice and Matt Cullen, having earlier racked up three assists, deservedly scored what proved to be the winner as Mike Cammalleri's second goal for Calgary proved in vain.
