PS4 software sales approach 14 million units

Global PS4 software sales stood at 13.7 million units as of March 2, Sony claimed on Tuesday.


The figure covers both packaged and digital game sales. Top selling tiles include Killzone Shadow Fall, which has moved over 2.1 million units, as well as Knack, Call of Duty: Ghosts, FIFA 14, Battlefield 4 and Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag.



The software sales figures were released alongside the announcement that worldwide PS4 hardware sales totalled six million units as of March 2, up from 5.3 million as of February 8.


Sony Computer Entertainment Japan said on Tuesday that domestic PS4 sales stand at 370 000 units since the system's release on February 22. In Japan, PS4 is priced at 39,980 yen (£235 / $393), or 41,979 yen (£247 / $413) with tax. The system is also be available bundled with the PS Camera for 43,980 yen (£260 / $432), or 46,179 yen (£272 / $454) with tax. A Metal Gear Solid themed version of the console, PS4 Fox Edition, will launch in Japan on March 20, the same day Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes hits retail.
