Psych Series Finale: Batman, a Near Break Up, a Proposal and More of the Best ...

Alan Zenuk/USA Network

'This is happening. This is really happening.'

After eight seasons, one hundred and twenty episodes, at least one hundred and twenty pineapples and about a thousand delicious snacks, Psych has ended, and we're fairly certain there's not a single dissatisfied Psycho in the land. If you ask us, that was a perfect finale. We could recap the whole glorious thing for you, but that's not something you need right now. Right now, you're probably a bit teary-eyed, sitting there in disbelief, clutching your pineapple pillow to your heart and teetering between happiness and complete devastation that Psych is over and Shawn ( James Roday) and Gus ( Dule Hill) have moved on to better, more San Francisco-y things. You need cheering up. You need encouragement, a silver lining, a confirmation that it's ok to move on. You need a great big hug made of words.

So that's what we're here to bring you-a collection of all of the best, most perfect series-ending moments from the final episode. So slice up that pineapple for the road, and take a little Psych journey with us, one last time.

RIP the Blueberry: We know, it was several episodes ago when Gus's precious company car was split in two (for the second time), but Gus's brand new jet black company car at his brand new job was just not the same. The Blueberry's been as much of a character as any human and has been through more in eight years than most cars go through in twenty. We will probably never love another fictional car as much as we love that Toyota Echo. (Luckily, you can buy it in the Psych auction!)

That Fakeout: The title, 'The Breakup,' scared a lot of fans, and it didn't help when it momentarily sounded like Shawn was breaking up with Juliet ( Maggie Lawson). Usually, the words 'I can't do this anymore' aren't the sign of anything good to come, but they turned into something truly beautiful as Shawn declared that he was leaving Santa Barbara behind and moving to San Francisco-'A man can follow a woman because he loves her, OK? There is no rule or law against that, and if there was, I would break it, and it wouldn't be quiet. I would do it brazenly, and out in the open!' Shawn's romantic speeches will never cease to make us cry happy tears.

The actual breakup: We all knew Shawn and Gus could never truly part, but watching Shawn try and fail to tell Gus the worst news ever was still the hardest thing we've had to do in a loooong time. 'He's my best friend in the universe! How are you supposed to break up with your best friend?'

Billy Zane's mustache. I mean, really?

'I'm Shawn Spencer, and this is my partner... I can't do it.' #Crying #Help #thisisonethingwemaynevergetover

Betsy/Woody 4eva: Did anyone else catch that nice bit of chemistry there as the new head detective ( Mira Sorvino) and the longtime coroner ( Kurt Fuller) waxed poetic about the dirt, moss, and mushrooms under the dead guy's fingernails? We ship it, and also we're willing to write the spinoff and/or fan fiction.

This exchange:

Shawn:'Gus, you're clearly not accounting for the possibility of the Lost City of Atlanta.'

Gus: 'Atlantis.'

Shawn: 'Well I've heard it both ways.'

Gus: 'And they're both wrong.'

Shawn: 'One of them was yours!'

Did it make any sense? Nope. Did we love it anyway? Of course.

The SBPD is clearly in good hands: Who needs a fake psychic when Betsy Brannigan's like a Lassie and a Shawn all rolled up into one?

Shawn telling his sandwich it was handsome: Perfect.

Shawn and Henry hugging.

'Someone brought a pelican pick & pluck pistol pack on a cross country trip?' 'It's plausible!' Try saying that five times fast.

Gus finding the body-and screaming about it. It wouldn't really be a complete episode of Psych without a Gus scream, now would it?

The 'we know who the killer is' dance in the morgue. The return to Leland Bosseigh High School 'because it's awesome, Gus. Because it's your happy place.' 'Who finds a murder weapon and goes to a Wendy's drive thru?'

Pocket sand! Or rather, pocket spiced flax seed!

A car chase in a student driver car: two cars, three steering wheels, maximum ridiculousness.

Henry to the college students-'How many hats are in the room?' Any pilot reference is the best reference.

'He finally called me.' Henry was proud of Shawn, Shawn was proud of Henry and his Matt Damon-ing, and it was a beautiful moment. 'Breaking Dad!'

Gus watching the goodbye video in his office meant that Shawn didn't manage to tell him in person, and then Shawn said 'I just can't help thinking that the only problem that you really had this whole time is me. I've kept you from the life that you deserve, the life that you earned, the life that you'd have if I hadn't barged into your office eight years ago and said, 'We're gonna play detective, whether you want to or not.' I love you, man.' Shawn was crying, Gus was crying and then Gus went to the Psych office to find that Shawn was long gone. Basically, tears were flowing and they were not going to stop. 'He didn't tell you either?' Dammit, Shawn.

T hat last glance at the Psych office window-the saddest window in the world right now.

Woody thinking Shawn's good-bye video was a Skype call. Classic Woody.

And Dobson is...Val Kilmer! And even he gets a good-bye video. Nice to finally meet you, Dobson.

And probably the thing that killed us the most out of anything - Shawn's video to Lassie. After a heartfelt declaration of friendship and respect, Shawn is just about to reveal the truth about his lack of true psychic abilities, the thing that Lassie ( Timothy Omundson) had always wanted from the very beginning, and Chief Lassiter shuts off the video, breaks the DVD, and throws it in the trash but we can hardly see him do it through our tears.

Betsy picking her junior detective, and it's Buzz (Sage Brocklebank)! Officer Morningwood is now Detective Morningwood, and he could not look better in that suit.

Shawn showing up at Jules' crime scene in San Francisco - 'What matters is that our life together starts now, and if we don't get busy living it, it is going to pass us by.'

Gus shows up in San Fran, after a few uneaten donuts and about twelve u-turns. 'I'm an adventurer now, with a friendship for the ages. And if I have to live in another city to make that happen, then so be it. That's the way it's gotta be.'

Gus's upgraded pick up line: 'My name is Burton Guster. I'm a realist, a dreamer, an adventurer, a lover of Harry Potter, and We Bought a Zoo. Matt Damon promises that if we can have twenty seconds of insane courage, something great will come out of it. Well, this is my moment of embarrassing bravery.

'We already have a guy.' 'He's in the kitchen, alphabetizing the pantry.' Monk reference, anyone?

And the moment we've all been waiting for-the proposal (and yeah, we typed up the whole thing): 'I made the biggest mistake of my life by leaving Santa Barbara without saying good-bye to Gus, and I am done cowering from the big decisions. I've wanted this for long enough, so it's gonna happen, right now... Juliet O'Hara, I do not believe in love at first sight, because I didn't even need to see you to know that I wanted to spend forever with you...scratch that. I have spent my whole life running from one thing to another, quitting and running and quitting and running, and pretending that my destiny was to drive a weiner-mobile...I'm not that young anymore, and I'm also not afraid. I know that I come with baggage, and a best friend who's not going anywhere, ever. But I promise you from this moment forward, the only running that I will be doing is into your arms, and I will never stop holding your cold little hands, or losing myself when I wake up in the morning and look at you and recognize how freaking lucky I am...Jules, will you marry us...me, mostly me, even though Gus is always going to be part of the deal, and then someday he'll have his own Juliet...and she'll be Jamaican, and together we'll be one big giant frosted black and white cookie, and we're gonna have dogs, all rescues, and kids, probably before we're sixty...Oh, just marry me so that I can show you how amazing our life will be together.'

Of course, she said yes, but the ring was snatched before Shawn could get it onto Juliet's finger, and Shawn, Gus and Juliet rode off into the sunset, in a car with two steering wheels, in pursuit of a very daring ring thief, running a red light along the way. And that's how we said good-bye to everyone's favorite unlicensed detectives, and closed the door on Psych for(maybe)ever.

So, how do you feel about how it ended? What was your favorite part? Take it to the comments and then check back later to hear all the scoop from creator and executive producer Steve Franks.
