Raiders ink DL Smith, CB Brown

Alameda, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Oakland Raiders signed defensive lineman Antonio Smith and cornerback Tarell Brown on Friday.


Smith had spent the last five seasons in Houston, where he racked up 27 sacks and 10 passes defensed while starting 78 of the 79 games he appeared in at defensive end.


The 32-year-old Smith, who was selected to his first and only Pro Bowl in 2011, has played in 140 career games (117 starts) while totaling 324 tackles, 41 1/2 sacks, 10 forced fumbles, 11 fumble recoveries and nine passes defensed.


Brown comes to Oakland after spending his first seven seasons with San Francisco.


Since becoming a full-time starter at cornerback for the 49ers in 2011, Brown has appeared in 45 games (42 starts) and recorded 143 tackles, six interceptions, 40 passes defensed and two fumble recoveries.


The 29-year-old Texas product has posted 213 tackles, 11 interceptions, 56 passes defensed and two fumble recoveries in 100 career games, including 47 starts.
