Texans officials meet with Manziel after stellar pro day

HOUSTON - It did not take long for the Houston Texans to bring in Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel after his NFL pro day performance in College Station on Thursday.

After Manziel's workout, the Heisman Trophy winner made his way over to Reliant Stadium where he met with Texans brass, who hoped to get to know him better before the NFL Draft in May.

Texans officials are not saying much about their meeting with Manziel, but did say that they did not hold a private workout with the quarterback.

Manziel is said to be one the top quarterback prospects this year along with Louisville's Teddy Bridgewater and UCF's Blake Bortles, who both held their pro days earlier this month.

The Texans are looking to fill a need at quarterback through the draft after last week's trade of former starter Matt Schaub. The team signed former Buffalo Bills quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick for depth at the position.

The Texans have not said whether they will use the first overall selection on a new signal-caller or on another position of need.
