The Voice Auditions Continue

By

The Voice blind auditions continue as Blake Shelton finds himself lagging behind the other three coaches in filling his 'dance' card. Each team seems to have a very diverse array of singers so this season should be really interesting. The search continues as the blind auditions bring a multitude of voices to the stage in the hopes of fulfilling their dream.

As the fourth day of auditions, the coaches arrive as Carson Daly introduces the first singer who is rock n' roller Meghan Ruger from Wisconsin with the song choice of 'Just Like A Pill' by Pink. The prayer is for four chairs. Does she get them? Her voice is sultry with a hint of Janis Joplin in her intonation. She does not get four but she gets a face-off between Usher and Blake. She is now on Team Blake as he makes a move to play catch-up tonight.

The next artist is Morgan Wallen from Tennessee who landscapes who got a recording contract at the age of eight but his mother felt he needed a normal childhood so his sights were set on a scholarship to college for baseball until an injury destroyed that dream. He is auditioning on The Voice to bring his voice to the world. He sings 'Collide' by Howie Day which gets Shakira to turn around right off the bat. He has a really unique voice that moves Usher as well. Who will he choose? Love is in the air as Adam sits on Blake lap while Usher and Shakira battle it out for this singer. In the end, Morgan selects Team Usher.

While Usher and Shakira do the robot on stage, James Cavern from California is introduced whose parents are refugees from Vietnam. His culture frowned upon musical aspirations replacing medical ones so he hid his love of song. He lives without frills but happily which will hopefully show in his voice. His song is 'Let's Get It On' by Marvin Gaye. The constructive criticism is the song choice was wrong but his voice has great quality and they want him to return.

The next few singers where joining teams like Dani Moz who sings 'I Need Your Love' by Calvin Harris who wowed Shakira as did Music Box singing 'You Gotta Be' by Des'Ree;both are Team Shakira. Lexi Luca who sings 'Wasting All These Tears' by Cassadee Pope joins Team Blake.

The most inspirational story of a singer's journey so far this season is that of Emily B from Idaho. She got involved with session singing and wound up doing vocals on several movies including the smash Pitch Perfect before being diagnosed with VHL requiring two brain surgeries. Following her honeymoon, she entered the hospital and is now a survivor. Her song is 'Wicked Game' by Chris Isaak. The response is the three chairs of usher, Shakira, and Blake Shelton. Blake asks her what kind of artist she sees herself as and she replies as long as she can get soul into it, she is game...Usher is all about soul and Blake has one. She chooses to go with Team Shakira.

The next performer is Stevie Jo (Steven Rosenbaum) from Texas. His parents were involved in heavy metal bands when they were younger but he tends to gravitate more to the blues side of things. His song choice is risky especially since it is by one of the coaches - 'There Goes My Baby' by Usher. I guess his motto should be 'Go BIG or go home!' He gets Usher's vote as his mother goes crazy backstage. No one else enters the bid because they knew he would go with Team Usher anyway which is where he is. Adam makes a funny by stating 'He sings like Usher but looks like Blake!'

A couple of the singers who did not make the cut were Josh McMillan who sings 'You Get What You Give' by New Radicals and Melany Watson singing 'The Power of Love' by Celine Dion as well as Branden Mendoza with 'Moving Along' by All American Rejects. Adam Levine has yet to add anyone to his team this evening.

Carson Daly tallies the teams with six members on Team Blake, nine members for Team Usher, nine members for Team Shakira, and seven members on Team Adam.

The final artist performing this evening is Audra McLaughlin from Pennsylvania. Her backstory is struggles with a learning disability which placed her in special classes making her strong. Her song choice is 'Angel from Montgomery' by Bonnie Raitt. Adam thinks she is the one and pushes his button but Blake does not let him fly solo. Her voice is full with a bit of grit that gets Shakira and usher to turn as well. The only singer tonight with an 'all coach vote.' What a way to end the show! She will be a member of Team Blake. Sorry Adam,,,maybe next week!
