By: Jamie Penick, MMATorch Editor-in-Chief There could be quite a unique scenario for tomorrow night's UFC 171 main event depending on what happens with Johny Hendricks' second weigh-in attempt tonight. According to UFC officials on the weigh-in show on Fox Sports 2, citing the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, if Johny Hendricks fails to make weight on his second attempt after two hours, the main event will still be a five round fight. Not only that, but it will still be a title fight, but only if Lawler wins. That's right, if Hendricks misses weight, he will not be eligible for the title, but if Lawler were to win, he'd still be awarded the UFC Welterweight Championship. The last time a fighter missed weight in a UFC Title fight was when Travis Lutter missed for his fight with Anderson Silva, which turned that into a three round, non-title bout at the time.Penick's Analysis: There's been some chatter that this is a commonplace scenario in boxing, though obviously not one with too many examples. Still, it's a brand new thing for a UFC Title fight and not a scenario we've ever seen play out. Still, with Hendricks looking pretty bad on the scale, even if he hits the mark now, Lawler might have more of an edge.
