'Dancing With the Stars' Season 18 Cast: Do Olympians Meryl Davis and Charlie ...

The cast for 'Dancing With the Stars' Season 18 has been announced, and two contestants may have an unfair advantage over the rest of the contestants.

Olympic champions Charlie White and Meryl Davis, who won the gold medal in Sochi in ice dance, will be joining the cast of the reality show. They will compete against each other, with White teaming up with Sharna Burgess and Davis pairing with Maksim Chmerkovskiy.

The new cast was announced Tuesday on 'Good Morning America,' according to San Jose Mercury News.

The two bring Olympic star power to the show, but many argue that they have an unfair advantage, seeing as they are gold medal-winning dancers. They are both in excellent physical shape, and have competed for 17 years as an ice dance team.

It has been proven that figure skaters do have an edge over the competition, as seen by Kristi Yamaguchi winning Season 6 of the show.

Davis and White have worked with 'Dancing With the Stars' dancer Derek Hough, who choreographed some of their performances on ice.

This season, Hough will be teamed up a different athlete, U.S. Paralympic snowboarder Amy Purdy.

The Paralympic Closing Ceremony in Sochi, Russia is on March 16, which is one day before the season premiere of 'DWTS.' Purdy, a double amputee, will be the first Paralympian to appear on the dance show.

The rest of the cast is as follows:

-Danica McKellar (Winnie from 'The Wonder Years'), dancing with Val Chmerkovski

-Cody Simpson (Australian pop star), dancing with Witney Carson

-Billy Dee Williams (actor-singer known for his role in 'Star Wars'), dancing with Emma Slat

-Diana Nyad (Long-distance swimmer), dancing with Henry Byalikov

-NeNe Leakes ('The Real Housewives of Atlanta; 'Glee'), dancing with Tony Dovolan

-James Maslow (actor, Nickelodeon's 'Big Time Rush'), dancing with Peta Murgatroyd

-Sean Avery (Former NHL player), dancing with Karina Smirnoff

-Drew Carey (comedian, host of 'The Price is Right'), dancing with Cheryl Burke

-Candace Cameron Bure (D.J. Tanner from 'Full House'), dancing with Mark Ballas

-Amy Purdy (US Paralympic Team Snowboarder; 'The Amazing Race'), dancing with Derek Hough

When the series returns on March 17, there will also be a new co-host, Erin Andrews. She will be replacing Brooke Burke-Chavert, who was recently fired from the series.

The season will also include a new twist: stars will swap partners at one point in the season, and viewers will decide who ends up dancing together.
