Nexus 6 to rock Qualcomm's 8

The fact that Nexus 6 won't be launched until much later in the year doesn't stop some media from bringing us early information about it. According to DigiTimes, the next Google-phone will rock Qualcomm's 8-core 64-bit Snapdragon 810 SoC. This chip is still not announced but should be officially unveiled in the second half of the year. Or at least that's what Chinese-language Economic Daily News (EDN) is saying.

If we can take Qualcomm's naming scheme for anything, we're talking about the fastest-yet mobile chip, one that's faster than already powerful (and also still not available) Snapdragon 805.

It is said that the Snapdragon 810 will be powered by four ARM Cortex-A57 CPUs paired with four Cortex-A53 CPUs for an ARM big.LITTLE configuration that enables scalable performance.

Meanwhile, Qualcomm is planning to launch Snapdragon 801 ASAP with first devices using this chip shipping by the end of March.
