Report: UNC investigating alleged football hazing incident

The University of North Carolina is investigating a hazing incident involving a group of football players at training camp.

According to Yahoo! Sports, the group of players allegedly assaulted redshirt freshman walk-on wide receiver Jackson Boyer at the A-Loft hotel in Chapel Hill, where the team was staying during training camp. Boyer allegedly sustained a concussion.

'We are aware of an incident involving members of the UNC football team that took place earlier this month. We take this allegation seriously and the University is conducting a thorough review,' Kevin Best, North Carolina's assistant athletic director for communications, said in a statement to Yahoo! Sports.

After finishing 7-6 last year and beating Cincinnati in the Belk Bow, North Carolina opens this season on Saturday vs. Liberty. The Tar Heels, ranked No. 23 in the preseason Amway Coaches poll, are expected to be serious contenders for the ACC Coastal Division title.
