Texas regents contacted Saban's agent in January
Nick Saban replacing Mack Brown at Texas? Well, there are at least two regents at Texas who have considered the idea.
According to the Associated Press, a current and former Texas regent contacted Nick Saban's agent, Jimmy Sexton, in January to ask about the possibility of Saban replacing Brown.
A couple days later the former regent, Tom Hicks, talked to Mack Brown about retiring, which Brown obviously said he did not want to do. The current regent, Wallace Hall, told the AP that he spoke with Sexton by phone a few days after Alabama beat Notre Dame in the BCS championship game.
The AP reports that it's unclear who initiated the meeting, and Saban's agent 'did not return a call seeking comment.'
And to think, this all took place before Texas got off to a 1-2 start to the season with losses to BYU and Ole Miss. You can only imagine what's going to happen should the Longhorns continue to struggle.
I'm guessing it will involve a lot of 'Saban to Texas' rumors whether they're valid or not.
