California DMV investigating a possible security breach
On Saturday, the California Department of Motor Vehicles stated that it is investigating a possible security breach of the credit cards in their processing services.
DMV officials said that, so far, they have not found any prominent evidence that would suggest their system has been hacked, reports the LA Times.
They were initially informed by authorities that there was a possible breach in their system and that law enforcement would monitor their Web traffic and transactions more closely.
The agencies involved with the credit card processing at the DMV have also been notified about the possible issue.
'There is no evidence at this time of a direct breach of the DMV's computer system,' the DMV wrote in a statement. 'However, out of an abundance of caution and in the interest of protecting the sensitive information of California drivers, the DMV has opened an investigation into any potential security breach in conjunction with state and federal law enforcement.'
According to ABC 7, the suspected theft involves credit cards that have been used online.
