BYU basketball: Cougars fall in upset bid against UConn (VIDEO)
Lincoln, Neb. * For 24 minutes, BYU had more than a chance - the Cougars appeared to be right in position to achieve the upset most called impossible.
It fell apart, slowly at first, but surely as top-ranked, undefeated Connecticut eventually topped the upstart 12 seed, 70-51. BYU put up a fight to remember, but ultimately fell in its bid for the program's first-ever Elite Eight bid.

Kim Beeston led with 16 points, and Morgan Bailey chipped in 14. Senior center Jen Hamson had 9 points, 13 rebounds and 6 blocks in her final game for BYU basketball.
Uconn had four starters in double digits, led by Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis with a game-high 19 points.
The first half was the memorable one for BYU, which led most of the way after the opening few minutes. Holding the Huskies to a mediocre 35.5 shooting percentage in that stretch, they surged ahead behind Beeston, who had 13 first-half points.
With defense and 3-pointers going their way, the Cougars led by as much as six. UConn didn't take its last lead until 15 seconds left in the half, which was as late as the Huskies have trailed in a game this year.
The Cougars were only down by a point at halftime, but from there, their upset effort petered out. The game was tied at 37 a few minutes into the half, but UConn went on a 7-0 run before a media timeout.
BYU never seemed to recover, struggling to find its shot again and giving away 18 turnovers in the game. Uconn ended up leading by 20 points with four minutes left, as the Cougars went on a five-minute scoring drought late in the second half.
