Jonathan Toews hurt on big hit

By Jesse Rogers | ESPNChicago.com

PITTSBURGH -- Chicago Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews left Sunday night's game against the Pittsburgh Penguins with an apparent left arm injury after getting hit into the boards by Penguins defenseman Brooks Orpik.

Toews was chasing a puck along the boards in the Penguins zone late in the second period when Orpik hit him hard on the left arm/shoulder. Toews immediately went to the bench holding his arm. A few seconds later he could be seen leaving for the locker room.

There was no penalty on the play. Orpik appeared to leave his feet as he delivered the blow but that could have been caused by the hit itself.

The Hawks were trailing the Penguins 2-1 at the time. Toews has 28 goals and 40 assists in 75 games.

The Hawks, who clinched a playoff berth on Saturday, are already playing without winger Patrick Kane, who has a left knee injury and is out for the rest of the regular season.
