Report: Patriots Making 'Strong Push' To Re

Julian Edelman might not hit free agency when the 2014 NFL season officially begins on Tuesday at 4 p.m.

The New England Patriots are making a 'strong push' to re-sign the wide receiver, according to MassLive.com's Nick Underhill. Edelman has a 'healthy market,' according to Underhill, and talks between the Patriots and the receiver remain 'fluid.'

Edelman worked out with Patriots quarterback Tom Brady on Monday, according to ESPN.com's Mike Reiss. Reiss noted that Brady is 'hoping it wasn't for last time as teammates.'

Edelman caught 105 passes for 1,056 yards with six touchdowns in 2013. He was playing on a one-year deal worth $1 million.
