Cink leads at Torrey; Tiger, Phil well back
La Jolla, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Stewart Cink fired an 8-under 64 on Thursday and grabbed a 1-stroke lead after the opening round of the Farmers Insurance Open.
Cink, who played the easier North Course at Torrey Pines, is still looking for his first win since the 2009 British Open Championship.
Gary Woodland carded a 7-under 65 on the North Course to end one back after one round. Jason Day, Tyrone Van Aswegen, 2010 runner-up Marc Leishman and Jim Herman share third place at minus-6.
Pat Perez had the low round of the day on the South Course at Torrey Pines as he opened with a 5-under 67. Perez was joined in seventh place by D.A. Points and Sang-Moon Bae.
Tiger Woods, a seven-time winner of this event, had two birdies and two bogeys on the South Course as he opened with an even-par 72, which left him tied for 63rd.
Phil Mickelson, the 2000-01 winner, fought through a tight back for a 3-under 69. He is tied for 17th.

Rafa Cabrera-Bello birdied four of his last five holes for a 7-under 65 Thursday to take a two-shot lead after the second round of the Qatar Masters.
