Gone With The Wind Star Alicia Rhett Dies, Aged 98

Gone With The Wind star Alicia Rhett has died, aged 98.


The actress, who played one of Ashley Wilke's sisters, India, in the 1939 film, died of natural causes on Friday (January 3) at the Bishop Gadsden Episcopal Retirement Community in Charleston, Gadsen spokeswoman Kimberly Farfone Borts said, according to the Mail Online.


Rhett was one of the oldest surviving cast members of the infamous movie, that also starred Vivien Leigh and Clark Gable.


The late actress had been living at the retirement community in Charleston since August 2002.

Other surviving Gone With The Wind cast members now include Olivia de Havilland, 97, who played Ashley Wilkes' cousin and wife, Melanie Hamilton; Mary Anderson, 93, who played Maybelle Merriweather; and Mickey Kuhn, 81, who played Beau Wilkes, the spokeswoman continued.


Rhett never got married and lived a relatively quiet life, involved in local arts programmes.
