Love named NBA All

Wolves forward Kevin Love made a late push in fan balloting and has been named a starter for the NBA All-Star game.

In a televised announcement Thursday evening, Love was the final starter released for the Western Conference. He joins the Lakers' Kobe Bryant, Golden State's Stephen Curry, Oklahoma City's Kevin Durant, and the Clippers' Blake Griffin on the West team.

'I want to sincerely thank all of the fans who voted for me this year,' Love said in a statement released by the Timberwolves. 'The support my teammates and I receive night in and night out is nothing short of amazing.'

Earlier Thursday, Love said he would not watch the announcement and that it would be a moral victory if he got within 10,000 votes of Griffin. But the late push by fans, aided by a Wolves PR campaign, was enough for Love to actually overtake Dwight Howard for the final spot.

This is Love's third All-Star nod, but his first as a starter. He is Minnesota's first starter since Kevin Garnett in 2007.
