The Pelicans announced Tuesday that forward Ryan Anderson is out indefinitely after suffering a herniated disk. Anderson suffered the injury last Friday after a scary collision with Celtics forward Gerald Wallace. Anderson laid motionless on the court for several minutes before being immobilized and taken off court on a stretcher.

He stayed in Boston for several days recovering at a local hospital. The injury is a crushing blow to the Pelicans' playoff hopes, as they had just gotten their full squad back. Anderson missed time coming into the season, then came back just as Anthony Davis went down.

The good news is that the injury wasn't more severe after the scary way he went down but this could take a huge chunk out of Anderson's season and the Pelicans' hope for a run.

Anderson, 25, is averaging 19.8 points and 6.5 rebounds this season for the Pelicans.
