The Newsroom Will End After Next Season

Season three will be the show's last

Sorry, @WillMcAvoyACN, but you're out of work. Go clean out your desk.

HBO's The Newsroom will come to an end after its third season, the network's president of programming, Michael Lombardo, announced Monday, per USA Today.

'I'm sure this farewell season will be one to remember,' said Lombardo.

The Newsroom, created by Aaron Sorkin, follows the trials and tribulations of a fictitious cable news channel - Atlantis Cable News - as the team cover events from the real world's recent past. It stars Jeff Daniels - who pulled in an Emmy for his portrayal of grumpy anchorman Will McAvoy - as well as Emily Mortimer, Sam Waterston, John Gallagher, Jr., Alison Pill, Thomas Sadoski, Dev Patel and Olivia Munn.

We're already looking forward to the gang getting back together to film an Election Day reminder.
