UCLA blows out USC with furious finish to first half

Kyle Anderson had 23 points and Jordan Adams added 21 as UCLA routed USC, 107-73, on Sunday afternoon at Pauley Pavilion, the Bruins' second-largest margin of victory over the Trojans.


The Pac-12 Conference opener for both teams was over by halftime.


The Bruins led, 21-18, with 11 minutes left, then closed with a 35-15 run for a 56-34 lead at halftime.


Anderson made 10 of 14 shots from the field and had 12 rebounds and five assists. It was his seventh double-double of the season and the 15th in his career.


Adams made eight of 13 shots, including five of eight from three-point range, and had six steals. It was the eighth time this season that Adams has scored 20 or more points.


The Bruins had two reserve guards hit double figures. Bryce Alford had a career-high 20 points while Zach LaVine added 16.


USC had as many turnovers as field goals in the first half (13). The Trojans finished with 17 turnovers compared to 10 for the Bruins. UCLA shot 61% and 41.9% for the game.


Guard Byron Wesley led the Trojans with 21 points and nine rebounds. Guard J.T. Terrell came off the bench to score 14.
