Boost Mobile and Virgin Mobile will merge to form Sprint Freedom: Rumor

According to reports from the telecommunication industry as quoted by Tech Crunch, Sprint could be looking to merge its two prepaid carriers - Boost Mobile and Virgin Mobile. Both carriers have been doing quite well of late, but the report claims that with the merger of these two, Sprint will be looking to launch a new service called Sprint Freedom. This change will reportedly take place within the first quarter of 2014. We're guessing this is merely a re-branding of the two prepaid carriers and a very good call to bring customers of both carriers under one umbrella.

The report further talks about Sprint's plans to bring back Nextel as a solution for high end users (business and enterprise). Users of the service will be given access to Sprint's tri-band LTE devices (Sprint Spark) with tablets and Wi-Fi hotspots on offer as well. We can expect Sprint to make the announcements in the coming months with information on data rates and coverage as well. It sounds like a great idea, but it's only a rumor for now, so we will reserve judgment until Sprint makes it official.
