DreamWorks partners with Fuhu to create 8

DreamWorks Studios is teaming up with Fuhu to introduce an 8-inch Android tablet for kids called Dreamtab, according to the New York Times.

The tablet is said to automatically receive regular updates that will bring original content created by DreamWorks that will be optimised for tablet viewing, as well as a stylus.

The stylus will be the 'same stylus technology that DreamWorks artists use to make movies', allowing kids to draw with their original content.

DreamWorks animation producer, Nancy Berstein, said the company was developing a series of 'character moments' for the tablet that will include characters from its movies.

She explained how this would mean the character Shrek for example, might appear in a skit to 'announce it is time to power down', whereby kids would learn when it is time to turn the tablet off and how to do it.

The Dreamtab comes with parental timing controls, as well as other features and will launch this Spring for less than $300 along side a range of DreamWorks compatible accessories.

DreamWorks is also working on a 12-inch version of the Android tablet.
