Tom Brady on Richard Sherman's rant: 'He's that kind of guy'

Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman likes to talk. It helps that he can back it up, something he has done pretty much every week for four months now. Most recently, late in the fourth quarter of Sunday's NFC Championship Game against the 49ers, when he deflected a Colin Kaepernick pass into the hands of teammates Malcolm Smith for a game-deciding interception.

In an on-field interview moments after the final whistle, Sherman exploded in a wave of adrenaline and emotion directed squarely at 49ers wide receiver Michael Crabtree. Turns out, the two have a history.

Sherman also has a history with Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, dating back to the 2012 season. To hear Sherman tell it, Brady was talking trash during that matchup and in the cornerback's mind, this was unacceptable.

'I kept saying I'm going to get that next time. Every TV timeout, I went up and said it right to [Brady]: 'Please keep trying me. I'm going to take it from you,'' Sherman said at the time. 'That was when they were winning. He just gave me that look and said, 'Oh, I'll see you after game.' Well, I made sure I saw him after the game.'

The Seahawks would go onto win, leading to Sherman's 'U Mad Bro' post-game tweet.

We dredge all this up because on Monday, a day after the Patriots lost to the Broncos in the AFC Championship Game, Brady was asked about Sherman's post-game tirade.

'I don't know him at all. I've watched him play. He's that kind of guy,' Brady told WEEI (via NESN's Doug Kyed). 'So, you know. I approach the game -- and I have respect for my opponents. That's the way our team always plays. We win with graciousness, and when we lose, we could do better.'

Sherman tweeted this at Crabtree after Sunday's victory but we're guessing it could just as easily apply to Brady.
