6 national champion teams get APR's top marks
INDIANAPOLIS - Six teams that have won national championships this school year have been recognized by the NCAA as academic overachievers.
More than 1,000 teams were honored with public recognition awards Wednesday. To make the cut, teams must finish in the top 10 percent of their sport on the annual Academic Progress Rate, which covers 2009-10 through 2012-13. All teams with perfect scores of 1,000 also are honored.

Colorado's cross country team and Notre Dame's soccer team were the only men's champs on the list. Georgia's swimming and diving team, Providence's cross country team, Connecticut field hockey team and Oklahoma's gymnastics all made the list on women's side.
Dartmouth led all schools with 26 teams on the list. Brown was second with 22 teams, and Bucknell was third at 21.
