These are the Three Schlubs Rumored to Replace Edgar Wright on Ant
They're really going for the comedy angle on this one.
THR has the names of the three directors (along with a helpful banner image of them we've stolen) that Marvel is looking at to replace Edgar Wright, who left the production of Ant-Man after nearly a decade of being attached to it due to, as far as we can tell, Marvel looking to screw up his creative vision with corporate bullshit. According to the most common rumors, Wright departed the film after Marvel had the script rewritten by journeyman screenwriters with the intention of making it tie in more to the Marvel cinematic universe. So now comes the task of replacing a visionary like Wright with someone more willing to toe the corporate line. Here's who Marvel's thinking of:
Ruben Fleischer, the director of Zombieland and Gangster Squad, Rawson Thurber, the director of We're the Millers and Dodgeball, and Adam McCay, director of Anchorman and the abysmal Step Brothers. Some people will probably be okay with this. A lot of people love Anchorman, despite Will Ferrell being a plague who needs to be destroyed with fire. But honestly, anyone who takes over Wright's job is going to be a disappointment at this stage. Not because Wright is the greatest director of all time or anything, but because he spent fucking 8 years on this thing, and we know Marvel's increasingly out of control executive scourge is already interfering too much in it
Or maybe I'm being overly harsh and it'll be fine. I'm in a weird mood. Oh, and The Wrap says Thurber is the frontrunner now. So I hope you really liked The Nines.
