Agents Of SHIELD Renewed, Agent Carter Picked Up

It may have started off slow, but Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. kicked it into high gear in the second half of its debut season. As a result, it's coming back for more in the fall, and it won't be the only Marvel show on ABC's schedule.

ABC announced that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will return for its second season, which is good since unless the season finale wraps up a whole bunch of plot threads in an hour, there are going to be questions still to be answered. It will be joined by Marvel's Agent Carter, with Hayley Atwell reprising her role as Peggy Carter from the Captain America films, supposedly set a year after Captain America: The First Avenger.

Currently, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is followed by The Goldbergs, a half-hour comedy that was also renewed, so it's unclear if ABC would consider moving things around to get both Marvel shows back-to-back. Plus the show might need a name change, since S.H.I.E.L.D. as we know it doesn't really exist thanks to the machinations of Hydra.

Jokes aside, the show certainly has come charging down the stretch, and I wasn't ready to say goodbye to Agent Coulson and crew just yet. Thanks for doing the right thing ABC.
