Canadiens Top Bruins to Take 2
P. K. Subban and Dale Weise each had a goal and an assist, Carey Price made 26 saves, and the Montreal Canadiens beat the Boston Bruins, 4-2, on Tuesday night to take a two-games-to-one lead in their Eastern Conference semifinal playoff series.
Game 4 is set for Thursday in Montreal.
Tomas Plekanec and Lars Eller also scored for the Canadiens, who were outplayed for long stretches but made the most of quick-strike attacks.
Patrice Bergeron and Andrej Meszaros scored for the Bruins.
PREDATORS HIRE LAVIOLETTE The Nashville Predators have hired Peter Laviolette, who becomes only the second coach in franchise history.
Laviolette has won nine of the 14 postseason series he has coached with the Islanders, the Carolina Hurricanes and the Philadelphia Flyers. He won the Stanley Cup in 2006 with Carolina.
Laviolette, who was fired in October by Philadelphia after the Flyers lost their first three games, will take over in Nashville once he finishes coaching the United States at the 2014 World Championship.
