Dodgers' Josh Beckett pitches no
By Dayn Perry | Baseball Writer
Dodgers' right-hander Josh Beckett is through eight innings against the Phillies and has yet to allow a hit. At this writing, Beckett has struck out five and walked two. Of his 110 pitches on the day, 71 have gone for strikes. He'll enter the final inning having retired 21 batters in a row and staked to a 6-0 lead. Beckett required just 10 pitches to retire the side in the eighth.
Due up for the Phillies in the home half of the ninth will be the pitcher's spot followed by Ben Revere and Jimmy Rollins.
If Beckett gets the final three outs, then he'll become the first Dodger to pitch a no-hitter since Hideo Nomo on Sept. 17, 1996.
