Hanson claims early Byron Nelson Championship lead

Irving, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Peter Hanson carded a 5-under 65 on Thursday to claim the early lead of the Byron Nelson Championship.

Hanson is a six-time winner on the PGA Tour, but has not won since the 2012 BMW Masters.

David Duval, Marc Leishman and Tim Wilkinson shared second place at TPC Four Seasons Las Colinas at 4-under 66, while last week's Players Championship winner Martin Kaymer headlined a group of eight players sharing fifth at 3- under 67.

Kaymer was joined by Ryan Palmer, Boo Weekley, John Huh, Tyrone Van Aswegen, Alex Cejka, Alex Prugh and Lee Williams.

Graeme McDowell is skipping next week's PGA Championship at Wentworth to spend time at home in Florida with his pregnant wife, Kristin.

The Champions Tour players put on long-sleeved pullovers and tried to figure out which way the wind was swirling from hole to hole. They left Shoal Creek with little separation at the top.

Azahara Munoz and Austin Ernst fired matching 6-under 65s on Thursday to share the lead after the opening round of the Kingsmill Championship.
