LG Shows Off G3 Smartphone Ahead of Launch

LG has been busy recently hyping up its soon-to-be-unveiled G3 smartphone, and now the company is looking to keep that momentum going with a new teaser site showing off the upcoming flagship handset.

The single-page site comes from LG's Korean division, and features three brief video clips highlighting the phone's design, display, and camera. Although we've already seen a number of leaked photos of the handset, the site offers up the first official glimpse at the G3's design.

As you can see from the design video (embedded below), the phone sports a brushed metal finish, though it's still a mystery whether it's real or plastic. The display video confirms it will have a 2,560-by-1,440 Quad HD screen, which is an upgrade from last year's 1080p display, but not a huge surprise given previous leaks. Meanwhile, the camera video, while in Korean, reportedly confirms that the 13-megapixel shooter will come with a new laser autofocus system we've heard rumblings about.

The new teaser site comes after LG yesterday showed off yet another new accessory for the G3 - the QuickCircle case. The folder-style case features a circular window on the front, which lets you quickly do things like check the time, place calls, send text messages, take photos, listen to music, and more.

Those eager to get a look at the G3 itself only have a few more days to wait. LG is planning to launch the new phone, along with the Android Wear-based G Watch, on Tuesday May 27. PCMag will be at the launch events in London and New York, so stay tuned for all the details as they emerge.
