Mets' Noah Syndergaard lands on DL with 'flexor pronator strain'

The injury is being described as 'mild,' though he is heading to New York for additional tests.
Syndergaard, 21, was acquired from the Blue Jays as part of the R.A. Dickey trade last offseason. He has since emerged as one of the top pitching prospects in the game -- Baseball America ranked him as the sixth best pitching prospect in baseball before the season -- and was expected to make his MLB debut later this season.
In 10 starts and 53 2/3 innings for Triple-A Las Vegas this year, Syndergaard has a 4.02 ERA with a 1.45 WHIP and 57/19 K/BB. He has been quite a bit better on the road (3.48 ERA) than at home (4.36 ERA) because Las Vegas is one of the most extreme hitter's environments in the minors.
The Mets, whose future is built around their young pitching, are already without ace Matt Harvey following his Tommy John surgery. Zack Wheeler (4.31 ERA) and Rafael Montero (4.96 ERA) are both experiencing growing pains at the MLB level.
Given the rash as Tommy John surgeries this year, it's easy to assume the worst for Syndergaard. We won't know any more until he undergoes another round of tests, however.
