AMELIA ISLAND, Fla. -- The Atlantic Coast Conference will remain at eight league games, ACC commissioner John Swofford said Monday from the league's spring meetings.

The league's athletic directors voted to remain at eight conference games, but teams must play at least one non-conference game against a team from the Power 5 conferences starting in 2017.

The ACC already has a scheduling agreement where five league teams will play Notre Dame annually. That game would count toward the non-conference Power 5 commitment.

Swofford said schools could continue to schedule FCS opponents. He added it hasn't been determined if independents BYU and Army (Navy joins the Big East in 2015) would count toward the non-conference Power 5 commitment.
