Sherri Shepherd's First Husband Alleges Neglect of Their Son, Seeks Full Custody

Sherri Shepherd just added another custody battle to her docket.

co-host's first husband Jeffrey Tarpley has filed for an emergency custody modification hearing, reports.

The documents, which were filed in April, claim that their 9-year-old son Jeffrey Jr., who has special needs, is suffering from 'neglect.'

Blaming Shepherd's work schedule, Tarpley accuses Shepherd of depriving Jeffrey of 'access to basic educational needs, a nurturing and loving environment, and care that Jeffrey so desperately needs.' Instead, Tarpley says that Shepherd relegates 'primary responsibility for our minor child to unskilled nannies.' Because of this, Tarpley claims Jeffrey cannot tie his own shoes, reads below his grade level, can barely write and has poor hygiene.

According to TMZ, Shepherd responded with her own documents, calling Tarpley an absentee father who deserves no part in Jeffrey's life.

Tarpley is seeking temporary physical custody. And while a judge found no cause for a temporary emergency order, a hearing has been scheduled forJuly 21.

Tarpley filed his petition a month before Shepherd's current husband, Lamar Sally, filed for divorce and full legal and physical custody of their unborn son. Sally claims their prenup was invalidated on grounds of fraud, but has requested that Shepherd be granted 'reasonable' visitation rights to their child.

Shepherd ended her 10-year marriage to Tarpley in 2011 and married Sally that August.
