Elisabeth Hasselbeck confirms she's leaving 'The View,' prepares to join 'Fox ...
Elisabeth Hasselbeck is expected to announce Wednesday on 'The View' that she is leaving the hit talk show to join FOX News.
After much speculation, Elisabeth Hasselbeck is leaving 'The View' - and will be signing on to FOX News Channel's morning yakfest, 'Fox & Friends.'
According to a network press release, FOX News Chairman and CEO Roger Ailes confirmed that the 36-year-old TV personality will replace 'Fox & Friends' co-host Gretchen Carlson, who will subsequently anchor her own one-hour daytime program beginning in early fall.
'Elisabeth's warm and engaging personality made her a star on The View,' Ailes said. 'She has proven to be an excellent conversationalist, and I am certain she will make a great addition to our already successful morning franchise.'
The conservative talk queen joins Steve Doocy and Brian Kilmeade on the hit FOX News show.
'I have been a long-time fan of 'Fox & Friends' and am excited to be joining their team in September, as it is an honor to call the FOX News Channel my new television home,' Hasselbeck added.
Hasselbeck is the third member of 'The View' cohort to announce her exit, after Joy Behar announced in March that she would depart at the end of the current season, and Barbara Walters confirmed in May that she would retire next year.
'We have had 10 wonderful years with Elisabeth, and she will now be swimming in new waters,' said Walters, 83, the show's creator and executive producer. 'We will miss her and wish her everything good.'
Hasselbeck is expected to announce her departure on the show Wednesday.
