Elisabeth Hasselbeck Leaving The View for Fox News

Fox News now has a friend in Elisabeth Hasselbeck.
The outspoken morning show veteran is leaving The View and will join Fox & Friends on the conservative-leaning cable news network.
'Elisabeth's warm and engaging personality made her a star on The View,' Fox News Channel president Roger Ailes said in a statement today. 'She has proven to be an excellent conversationalist and I am certain she will make a great addition to our already successful morning franchise.'

'I have been a long-time fan of Fox & Friends and am excited to be joining their team in September as it is an honor to call the Fox News Channel my new television home,' Hasselbeck added.
The 36-year-old wife and mother of three will join regular Fox & Friends presenters Steve Doocy and Brian Kilmeade in mid-September. Their longtime cohost Gretchen Carlson has inked a deal for her own daytime talk show on the network, to start airing in early fall.
Hasselbeck's more conservative views often caused her to entertainingly butt heads over the years with the likes of former cohost Rosie O'Donnell Joy Behar, who is leaving The View when her contract runs out in August; and Whoopi Goldberg.

Barbara Walters, who is retiring next year, denied rumors in March that Hasselbeck would be following Behar out the door.
'There is a particularly false story that keeps getting picked up about Elisabeth's alleged departure, saying that we don't approve of her conservative views,' the veteran newswoman said. 'The truth is we love Elisabeth. I like her personally and she's just a wonderful person. But beyond that, we value and appreciate her point of view because Elisabeth helps give this show perspective and balance, so we have no plans for Elisabeth to leave show.'
Well, they didn't have plans for Hasselbeck to leave...

Hasselbeck joined The View in 2003, replacing Lisa Ling, and is the author of two New York Times bestellers, The G-Free Diet (that's gluten to you) and Deliciously G-Free.
The onetime Survivor: Australian Outback finalist was also a keynote speaker at the Republican National Convention in 2004 and 2008.
A rep for The View also said in March that Hasselbeck had 'a long-term contract.'
'We have had ten wonderful years with Elisabeth and she will now be swimming in new waters,' Walters said in a new statement. 'We will miss her and wish her everything good.'
