Elisabeth Hasselbeck's Last Day on The View Is Wednesday
Elisabeth Hasselbeck's run on The View is coming to an end sooner than anyone thought. A source tells Us Weekly that Wednesday, July 10, will be the talk show personality's last day on the couch alongside co-hosts Barbara Walters, Joy Behar, Whoopi Goldberg, and Sherri Shepherd.
Hasselbeck, 36, is expected to announce her departure during Wednesday's episode, the insider says. She'll also be talking about her new gig, starting in mid-September, as a co-host on Fox & Friends.

'It was her decision [to make her exit in July],' the source tells Us of the conservative star, who joined the cast of the show in November 2003, after a guest-hosting stint following Lisa Ling's 2002 departure.
Us Weekly first revealed Hasselbeck's exit from The View in March. Insiders told Us at the time that producers had opted not to renew her contract because viewers found her 'too extreme and right-wing.' Walters later denied that the show had any plans for her to leave, but sourcessaid the denial was part of a strategy to 'save face' for everyone involved.

Producers are 'just leaving the door open for Elisabeth to announce she is leaving on her own when she is ready,' one insider said at the time. 'They don't want to make her look bad and don't want to make the show look bad for canning her.'
Another source explained that Hasselbeck was waiting to have another job lined up before she made her announcement. Rumors circulated earlier this year that she was looking to move to CNN, but those talks amounted to nothing.

Hasselbeck isn't the only host who won't be returning to the show. Joy Behar, the only remaining original cohort besides series co-creator Walters, announced in early March that she would be leaving to pursue other interests after this season. And Walters herself confirmed in May that she planned to retire in 2014.
