Musical buildings

Protesters in Thailand seeking the removal of Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra marched on several buildings, including the army's headquarters. Yingluck has proposed talks but the protesters have rejected them.

Macabre death in Germany

A German policeman was arrested on suspicion of killing and chopping up a man he met on the Internet who apparently fantasized about being killed and eaten. An investigation is underway.

Zone defense

The U.S., South Korea and Japan all sent military flights through air space that China has declared a maritime air defense zone. Neighboring countries and the U.S. have said they will not honor the new zone.

Black Friday exported

A pregnant woman was knocked over and another woman taken to the hospital in Northern Ireland after an Asda store in Belfast heavily discounted televisions and other electronics as U.S.-style Black Friday deals crossed the pond.

I will survive

A comet that gained an earthly following because of its bright tail visible from space was initially declared dead after essentially grazing the sun. Now, there is a sliver of hope that Comet ISON may have survived.

Menu shame

Some of Japan's top hotels and high-end department stores admitted to a shocking transgression of ethics: serving cheaper alternatives instead of the pricey items ordered from menus.

Stadium collapse

Part of the stadium that will host the 2014 World Cup opener in Brazil collapsed causing significant damage and killing two people. Images showed the collapse of a huge metal structure.

EU or bust

Thousands demonstrating in Ukraine's capital demanded the signing of an association agreement with the European Union even though the country's president has shelved plans for it. President Yanukovych favors closer ties with Russia.

Chopper crash

A police helicopter crashed into a busy pub in central Glasgow, trapping many in the rubble. Eyewitnesses and police reported that about 120 people were inside The Clutha which is on the banks of the River Clyde.
