Stock futures rise as Street eyes abbreviated session

U.S. stock futures eked out gains as investors prepared to return from the Thanksgiving holiday and markets kept an eye on the start of the Christmas holiday shopping period.

Wall Street will reopen Friday but for shortened trading hours only.

BLACK FRIDAY: For many, Thanksgiving was a day for shopping

Ahead of the opening bell, Dow Jones industrial average index futures added 0.2%, Standard & Poor's 500 index futures rose 0.2% and Nasdaq index futures climbed 0.4%.

Asia's regional heavyweight benchmark, Japan's Nikkei 225, dropped 0.4% to 15,661.87.

Benchmark crude fell 11 cents to $92.19 per barrel in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Prices have drifted down in recent weeks amid high supplies and as concern over Syria and Iran subsided.
