Low Gas Prices Mean $2 Billion More Black Friday Spending Power
Low gas prices look set to slip a full $2 billion of extra spending money in the pockets of US shopper this year, all in time for those Black Friday sales. With families all over the US getting ready to hit the highways and make those annual commutes cross-country, the savings made in comparison to last year's gas prices add up to some serious additional spending power.
The latest roundup of figures from GasBuddy.com reports a national average gas price right now of $3.27 per gallon of regular. This is a full 16 cents lower than the same time last year and less than we were paying back at 2011's Thanksgiving holiday.
All in all, the savings made across the US could amount to a full $2 billion - more than enough to go wild on Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
For those living in Utah, the savings are by far the best of all. On average, motorists in the region are saving a full 50 cents per gallon of regular compared to the prices of last year. The price cuts aren't quite as sever in the Florida area, where in some towns and cities the price per gallon is actually a tad higher than it was at this time last year.
Gas prices for US motorists are still slowly but steadily on the up, but analysts don't' expect any significant hikes at any time in the near future at least.
