MRI reveals no further damage to Peyton Manning's ankle
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. - Peyton Manning underwent an MRI on Monday morning, but it revealed no new damage to his sprained right ankle, meaning the Denver Broncos quarterback is expected to start Sunday's AFC West showdown against the first-place and undefeated Kansas City Chiefs, a person with knowledge of Manning's status told USA TODAY Sports.
The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the team has not confirmed the results of Manning's MRI.
Interim head coach Jack Del Rio will hold a press conference Monday afternoon.

Manning was 'pretty sore,' Sunday evening after some particularly hard hits in Denver's 28-20 win against the San Diego Chargers. He was wrapped up by the ankle in a first-half sack by linebacker Larry English, and Chargers defensive end Corey Liuget got into Manning's lower legs after he delivered a throw to Demaryius Thomas just after the two-minute warning. Liuget was not penalized on the play.
Monday's MRI was not the first this season for Manning, who initially injured his right ankle against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 6. He didn't miss any practice time until after Denver's loss to the Indianapolis Colts on Oct. 20, after which an MRI revealed a sprained ankle.
Manning rested through the Broncos' bye week and said he was feeling better heading into Sunday's game at San Diego.
Not anymore.
'I'd like to be able to shake it. I'd like to be able to feel good each week,' Manning said Sunday evening. 'But obviously, it's part of football.'
Other than the entire 2011 season, when Manning was sidelined while recovering from a series of neck surgeries, he has not missed a start in his career.

Denver's backup quarterback is 2012 second-round pick Brock Osweiler, who has only played sparingly in mop-up duty since being drafted.
